Celtic agree Taylor fee while highly rated youngster makes surprise move — transfer latest

Celtic have agreed a fee with Kilmarnock for Greg Taylor.

Neil Lennon had hoped to get the left-back in too bolster his squad for yesterday’s trip to Ibrox, but the deal hit a snag when Celtic players going the other way were cool on the move.

Kilmarnock wanted to sign Calvin Miller on a permanent deal, while Jack Hendry would have joined the Rugby Park side on loan.

Celtic’s subsequent revised bid, omitting the players, was rejected by Kilmarnock but with the clock ticking on the end of another transfer window, the two clubs finally found common ground.

In a surprise move, Ewan Henderson has joined Ross County on loan for a season.

The highly rated 19-year-old was expected to see more game time this season after impressing in his fleeting appearances in the Hoops.

He will now gain valuable experience at the Staggies and it’s hoped he will be the next successful loanee, following on from the likes of Ryan Christie, Kristoffer Ajer and Callum McGregor, who are now all first-team regulars.

Right-back Anthony Ralston has also gone out on loan, joining St Johnstone for a year.

Manchester City’s young right-back Jeremie Frimpong has been linked with a permanent move, but a deal for Victor Wanyama is reportedly unlikely.

If the Spurs man, who was told in no uncertain terms to find a new club, hasn’t done so as the day goes on, it may raise hopes that a loan deal could yet be revived.
