Odsonne Edouard’s exploits in the French U21s has caught the eye of some of Europe’s big guns, according to reports.
French Eddie has had a blistering start to the season for Celtic and has scored nine goals in four appearances for Les Espoirs, including a hat-trick last night.
That form, on top of his performances in the Hoops, has alerted the likes of Celtic’s Europa League rivals, Lazio, among others, according to the Record.
The Italian side, who have been ordered to close part of their stadium over the racist behaviour of their fans, are not the only side from Serie A looking at Edouard.
Napoli and Roma are also credited with an interest, as are Borussia Dortmund and Lyon.
The 21-year-old, Celtic’s record signing, has spoken of how much he loves it at the club and anyone hoping to sign him will have to dig deep.
Countryman Moussa Dembele moved for £20m, but Celtic, having sold Kieran Tierney for £25m, will want way more than that.
It goes without saying that there is absolutely no way that the club should be entertaining any bid for Edouard in January, regardless of the price.
With the player appearing very content in his surroundings, where he’s blossomed since his initial loan move in 2017, and with a mountain of cash in the bank, there’s no need to sell anyone.
Regardless of any interest, Celtic should be offering the player a new deal to go with his status as our top striker and the best in the country, as well as the perfect environment to continue his development into one of the outstanding strikers around.
