Ryan Jack is the latest Ibrox star to shoot his mouth off about Celtic, despite never having won a trophy in his time in Glasgow.
Fresh from Sheyi Ojo doubling down on his claim that Steven Gerrard’s side are the best in Scotland, Jack has claimed that over the course of six-nine months, there hasn’t been a better side than Rangers.
“I don’t think any team in the last six, nine months has played us off the park or been a better football team than us.”
Not only did Celtic inflict defeat on them in that match, they seem to have left Jack with a dose of amnesia.
In the last six-nine months, Aberdeen knocked his side out of the Scottish Cup at the quarter-final stage, winning 2-0 at Ibrox. Having also been knocked out of the League Cup by the Pittodrie side, this blew the new club’s chance to finally land some silverware.
By the end of January, they were three points behind Celtic, who had a game in hand. Despite winning a dead rubber clash at Ibrox the week after Celtic clinched the title, they still ended up nine points behind Neil Lennon’s side, having failed to capitalise on the turmoil at Parkhead.
Jack has now been at Ibrox for two years and in that time has been powerless to stop Celtic as they won two trebles.
This year, having “won” the close season transfer window, again, their puffed up egos were shattered when a Celtic team that wasn’t “anything special” put them in their place.
Having reached the top of the league with 30 games left to play, Jack seems to have got drunk on that “success” quite easily. Hardly surprising, as he’s been off it all the time he’s been at Ibrox.
With Jack’s one and only trophy coming while wearing the red of Aberdeen, who Celtic have faced in two finals since his Ibrox switch, he’d have had a better chance of landing silverware if he hadn’t move.
The midfielder is the latest in a long line at Ibrox who’d be better letting their feet do their talking… if they were up to much in the first place.
