Hatem Abd Elhamed is set to complete his transfer to Celtic, pending a medical and work permit approval.
Hapoel Beer Sheva have said that terms have been agreed between the two clubs and the player will officially sign subject to the above conditions.
A statement on the club’s Twitter account said: “Hapoel Tadiran Beer Sheva and Celtic signed an agreement to transfer Hatem Elhamid to the Scottish team.
“Hatem will immediately undergo medical examinations and work permit arrangements in Scotland. Upon completion of the proceedings, Hatem will officially transfer to Celtic.”
The once-capped Israeli international can play in central defence or right-back.
Hapoel Beer Sheva owner Alona Barkat said: “What I have said to Hatem will remain private between us. But I am the owner of a proud club that our player is going to play in a great team like Celtic.”
She continued: “We are honoured and wish that all of our players fulfil their dreams
Celtic remain on the search for another right-back, after losing Mikael Lustig, while Cristian Gamboa and loanee Jeremy Toljan also left the club.
