Defender on way to Celtic confirms ‘proud’ Hapoel Beer Sheva owner

Celtic have secured the signing of Hapoel Beer Sheva defender Hatem Abd Elhamed, according to reports.

Owner says she the club is “proud” that the centre-back, who can also play at right-back, is on his way to Glasgow.

Alona Barkat said: “What I have said to Hatem will remain private between us. But I am the owner of a proud club that our player is going to play in a great team like Celtic,” reports The Scottish Sun.

She continued: “We are honoured and wish that all of our players fulfil their dreams.”

Celtic continue the hunt for new faces and there could be more incoming in the next few days.

Neil Lennon said in midweek that Ecuador Under-20 midfielder Jose Cifuentes was ‘on the radar’.

Celtic kick off the new season in just over two weeks, on Saturday 3 August.

Before that, the Bhoys have to negotiate the second round of qualifiers in the Champions League against Estonians Nõmme Kalju.
