Neil Lennon has confirmed Celtic’s interest in bringing back Victor Wanyama was genuine and he might go for him in January.
Rumours were flying around as the transfer window drew to a close that the Kenyan was interested in a move back to Glasgow.
A switch to Brugge stalled, while there were noises in the background that Celtic were looking to pull off what would have been a real transfer coup.
Wanyama, 28, added fuel to the fire when he teased Fraser Forster about “keeping his shirt warm“.
Now Lennon has revealed that the interest was real.
He said: “There was interest but it never got off the ground,” reports the Sun.
Lennon has not ruled out the possibility that Wanyama, who remained at Spurs after being told he had no future there, might return during the winter break.
He continued: “Could we look at it again in January? We’ll have to wait and see.
“We might not want to with the balance of the squad now, as well as the affordability.”
With Scott Brown battling time, Celtic fans would love to see the midfielder back in the hoops.
