Odsonne Edouard has dismissed talk of a £30m bid from Italian giants Napoli and says he’s ‘really happy’ at Celtic.
The player, who has also been linked with Monaco, was said to be on the Serie A side’s radar according to an article in the Daily Mail.
But Odsonne had rubbished talk of a move.
Speaking on the Celtic website, he said: “I actually didn’t know about this [story] and it doesn’t really matter. At the moment I’m a Celtic player.”
He continued: “I’ve got a season to play, I’ve got a long contract, I’m really happy with the way I’m playing, the set-up here and I’m really happy to play with my friends for the team.
“I’ve still got a lot to prove with Celtic, as part of the Celtic team. There’s a long season ahead of us, we need to concentrate on that.
“The key is I’ve got to prove myself here first.”
Edouard was today named Ladbrokes Premiership Player of the Month for August.
The French youngster has had a blistering start to the season. As well as scoring the opener at Ibrox on 1 September, he also scored twice in European qualifiers against Cluj and AIK.
Added to earlier strikes against Sarajevo, Motherwell and St Johnstone to take his tally for the season to six.
His excellent form continued on the international scene, with four goals in two games after being called up to the French U21s.
Reflecting on that and Thursday’s Europa League match back in his homeland, he said: “It was my first time with the U21s and I’m really enjoying it. I’m not thinking about anything else other than our next game.
“I know Rennes well because I watch the league regularly. I know it’s going to be a difficult game so it’s up to us to go there and try and get a result.”
