Fraser Forster pulled off another stunning save in the Europa League for Celtic that took Chris Sutton’s breath away.
The former striker was gobsmacked after the big stopper pulled off a remarkable double save as Celtic beat Rennes 3-1 with another fine performance.
With Celtic leading 2-0, an attack from Rennes down the right saw the keeper called into action with an instinctive block from Tait saw the ball fall into the path of Siebatcheu.
With the goal seemingly at his mercy, Forster raced to narrow his options and got a block on the shot, turning it onto the post.
For good measure, Lea Siliki’s tame effort was then gathered up by the big Englishman as he added to his tally of quite incredible saves for the Hoops.
Sutton said: “That’s ridiculous! Absolutely no right, twice, Fraser Forster.
“Great reaction the first time, then to get up and stop the second shot.”
The double save, at 2 minutes 35 seconds on the video below, followed on from his in injury time against Lazio in the first of the double-header against the Roman side.
That stop from Cataldi’s thunderbolt secured the three points and even left his teammates in awe, with Scott Brown (below) totally wowed as he hailed his keeper after the match.
Forster is clearly loving life back in the east end of Glasgow and insists he will be happy to make the switch permanent if the various parties can come to an arrangement.
Having been out of the picture at Southampton, Forster’s worth to Celtic can’t be underestimated.
Simply put, he’s guaranteed points in the bag, while his teammates are confident in the knowledge that opponents face a formidable obstacle should the breach the defence.
We’d say break the bank, Celtic are so cash-rich at the moment, it would hardly even leave a bruise.
