Jeremie Frimpong has made a stunning impact at Celtic following his move from Manchester City in the summer.
The youngster picked up another man of the match award after a tremendous performance in Celtic’s 4-0 win over Livingston.
His captain Scott Brown is clearly a fan but didn’t miss the chance to have a playful dig at the new Bhoy in the post-match interview.
Brown was effusive in his praise for the 18-year-old livewire but, having got on the scoresheet himself, had one reservation about his teammate’s talents as he lightheartedly described his shooting as ‘pathetic’.
He said: “He’s been fantastic since he came in. All the lads buzz off him in the changing room as well. He’s a great wee lad.”
Then came the stinger…
“His shooting’s pathetic but everything else about him has been incredible.”
The comment saw Frimpong burst out laughing as the captain had to stifle his own giggles.
And the Celtic TV commentator reminded goalscorer Broony that he himself had benefitted from a deflection with his own effort!
One right-back whose shooting wasn’t the best was Danny McGrain. If Frimpong could go on to have half the career of the great man, we’ll have some player on our hands.
He’s clearly a popular lad in the dressing room and from the stunning impact he’s made on the team, it looks like he’ll be a fans’ favourite as he becomes a stalwart in the Hoops for years to come.
